Storytelling
Telling rich and impactful stories has been a key part of both my education and my passion for change. I have created videos and articles about sustainability and the climate crisis, covered congressional campaigns, political events, and events on my college campus. I believe everyone has a story worth telling, and that our diverse experiences make those stories much more compelling. A few samples of my work are available below, with others available upon request.
Kennedy for Congress Election Day Video
This summarizes Amy Kennedy’s run for Congress in New Jersey’s Second Congressional District, and was posted across all of the campaign’s social media accounts on Election Day. I oversaw and executed this project from start to finish, and drafted much of the copy seen in the video. Most recently, the video has over 6,000 views across all platforms.
Kennedy for Congress Small Business Tour
During her campaign for Congress in New Jersey's 2nd Congressional District, Amy Kennedy visited all eight counties in the district on a small business tour. I compiled photographs from her visits and video as well as audio from her virtual town halls in this summary.
Planet Forward Storyfest Grand Prize Winning Video
I created this video with my production partner Andrew Demeter to identify an important issue in the world of climate change and sustainability, and create a narrative around it. Andrew and I chose plant-based burgers like the Beyond and Impossible burgers, and investigated whether they were worth all the environmental hype. In February of 2020, this video was selected as a finalist in the annual Storyfest competition that highlights stories about our planet and climate change. In April of 2020, it was selected as one of six grand prize winners.
Trans Awareness Week
I created this video with my project partner CeCe Castronuovo for our Broadcast New Writing final project. We wanted to highlight the work of the Trans and Nonbinary Students of GW, specifically their programming and advocacy during Trans Awareness Week. I chose the shots to produce and include, and edited the piece.
Food Recovery Network Infotext Video
I created this infotext video to highlight the Food Recovery Network and its role in reducing food waste. The organization had a large presence on my campus at the time I created this video, and given my background in the food justice movement, I thought it was the perfect subject.
Written Work
Climate Change Blog Post
A personal account of the climate crisis’ impact on our environment. I pulled from my experience growing up in one of the skiing capitals of the U.S., & described how a warming world could change everything I’ve known. This is currently in the process of being published on planetforward.org.
Portrait of a Campaign
The first in a series of articles I produced while covering the 2018 congressional race between incumbent Barbara Comstock and state senator Jennifer Wexton.
Child Marriage & Education Speech
I composed and delivered this speech, incorporating facts as well as persuasive rhetoric, on the impact of child marriage on women and girls’ access to education.
“Slactivism” Listicle
A climate crisis-centered listicle inspired by the surge in misinformation and the phenomenon of “slacktivism” following the fires in the Amazon rainforest last fall. This is also currently in the process of being published on planetforward.org.
